The World at War (1973-1976)
The World at War is a 26-episode British documentary television series that chronicles the events of the Second World War. It was produced in 1973, at a cost of ยฃ900,000 (equivalent to ยฃ11,600,000 in 2021), the most expensive factual series ever produced. It was produced by Jeremy Isaacs, narrated by Laurence Olivier and included music composed by Carl Davis. The show focused on the imperialist exploits of the Axis powers, who were hellbent on establishing hegemony over Europe and Asia. They met resistance in the Allied forces, who after six gruelling years of fighting, were able to finally put an end to their campaigns of mass terror and destruction. The World at War attracted widespread acclaim and now it is regarded as a landmark in British television history.

Bill Douglas Trilogy
[youtube id=vdc6YnkNlSE]
Bill Douglasโ€™s award-winning films My Childhood, My Ain Folk and My Way Home are three of the most compelling and critically acclaimed films about childhood ever made. Autobiographical in nature, the trilogy is a searing portrait of a young boy's progress from growing-up in the most extreme poverty in a small mining village during post-war Scotland, to conscription into the RAF and then finally to emancipation through friendship and the Arts.
